| I am proud to be a co-sponsor of S.1492, the Alzheimer's Breakthrough Act. This bipartisan bill truly represents a breakthrough in federal support for Alzheimer's research, prevention, and treatment. It would more than double annual funding for Alzheimer's research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from $400 million to $2 billion; establish a national summit on Alzheimer's to examine the most promising innovations in diagnosis, prevention, and intervention; and create a system for caregiver support offering updated news along with resources and tools for caregivers, families, and medical providers.
S.1492 has been referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. Rest assured that I will continue to fight for this and other legislation that furthers the cause of overcoming Alzheimer's Disease.
